Later in 1901, the Frederick Warne & Co. publishers accepted her book, and she signed a contract with them in June of 1902. Within half a year, 28,000 copies of the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit books were in print, and her next book, “The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin,” was published in 1903. A letter she had written to one of Noel Moore’s siblings inspired that book as well.

The stories in Beatrix Potter books are based on realistic animal behavior, and “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” tells about a small rabbit that gets into trouble with Mr. McGregor because of the delicious temptations in his carrot patch.
